Foundry North Shore is located in the Lion on First, a mixed-use building at 211 West First Street in North Vancouver. The 9,000 square foot facility serves as an integrated youth-service centre for kids and teens between the ages of 12 and 24 years old in need of mental health care and social services.

Hosted by Vancouver Coastal Health, the centre offers five core services, including primary care, mental health services, substance use services, youth and family peer support and navigation, as well as social supports.

The new facility includes a family lounge and a youth lounge. The latter is for youth only, providing a comfortable, safe, and non-institutional space where kids and teens can interact with one another.

With an emphasis on flexibility, the centre includes a number of group rooms, consultation rooms, and assessment rooms of various sizes.

Signals Design Group developed a vibrant and engaging motif for the wayfinding and applied graphics. For the finishes, textiles, and flooring patterns, KRA worked with a neutral colour palette and a burst of colour to reflect the wayfinding and create a cohesive space that resonates with youth.

The waiting area and reception are also designed to provide a warm, family-friendly atmosphere with a focus on privacy for the clients.
