The West 7th Primary Care Centre (PCC) involved the relocation of Seymour Health’s existing Primary Care Centre located at 1290 Hornby Street to a new facility dedicated to primary care services, including family practice, allied health, and specialist services such as gynecology and physiotherapy, supported by a multidisciplinary care team.
The centre also includes a Rapid Access Medical clinic, providing timely appointments with physicians or nurse practitioners and enhancing access to primary care. Located at 1770 West 7th Avenue in Vancouver, BC, the site was selected for its proximity to another Seymour Health clinic, supporting co-location efficiencies and coordinated service delivery. The project comprised a tenant improvement renovation across two floors of an existing commercial building under a tight schedule and delivered via Construction Management.
The West 7th PCC maintained the existing workflow from the previous location, while integrating the Rapid Access clinic, providing a functional, flexible, and accessible environment for patients and staff. The design reflects KRA’s commitment to patient-centred care, operational efficiency, and seamless service delivery within Vancouver’s evolving primary healthcare network.
This fast-paced healthcare renovation within a commercial building required close collaboration with the Construction Manager and strategic sequencing of tender packages to support an accelerated schedule, while ensuring rapid team responses during construction as site crews operated in two shifts daily for a portion of the project.
Interior finishes were carefully selected to support infection control requirements while creating a calm, welcoming environment for patients and staff. A palette of warm whites and refreshing green accents complements the client’s logo and overall branding while also reinforcing a sense of comfort and wellbeing throughout the centre. Rounded corners at the reception desk are echoed at select entry points, softening transitions and contributing to a cohesive, patient‑centred design.
The limited floor-to-floor height required meticulous coordination of above-ceiling services to ensure functionality while preserving adequate ceiling clearance throughout.
